78 Years of Printing Graphics That Need to Last

Airmark Co. was founded in 1948 to manufacture decals for an aircraft industry that was expanding faster than anyone could supply it.

Aircraft markings of the era Airmark was founded to supply

Our first customers were the major aircraft manufacturers of the era — companies whose parts had to carry markings that survived altitude, temperature swings and decades of service.

In the 1950s we worked directly with 3M to test pressure-sensitive vinyl as a replacement for water-mount decals. That partnership shaped how we work: material selection first, then printing. It is still how we spec every job.

Stacked rolls of white service labels, each carrying a barcode, a unique alphanumeric asset code and bilingual service instructions

CSC ServiceWorks

Consecutively serialised equipment labels for CSC ServiceWorks — bilingual service copy, a scannable barcode and a unique asset number on every label, supplied on the roll.

Then and now

What has changed and what has not

The industries have changed. We print for refuse fleets, ambulance manufacturers, rental equipment companies, appliance makers and city governments now. The equipment has changed — screen printing for medium and long runs, digital printing for short runs and large formats, and everything from die cutting to polyurethane doming in between.

What has not changed is the approach. We still start with the application: the surface it is going onto, the environment it has to survive, the service life you need and the standard it has to meet. Then we select the substrate and the adhesive. The printing is the easy part.

Founded to supply the aircraft industry

Airmark begins manufacturing decals for an aircraft industry expanding faster than anyone could supply it. Early work goes to the major aircraft manufacturers of the era.

    Testing pressure-sensitive vinyl with 3M

Airmark works directly with 3M to test pressure-sensitive vinyl as a replacement for water-mount decals — the partnership that set the material-first approach still used to spec every job.

  3. Today

    Nine industries, one plant

Decals, labels, signs, graphic overlays, banners and full vehicle wraps for fleets, manufacturers, municipalities and emergency services nationwide — produced from the same Southern California plant.

In-house

From concept to delivery

Our creative department develops artwork from whatever you have — a CAD file, a photograph, a napkin sketch. We proof it, prototype it, manufacture it and, for vehicle graphics, install it. Nothing is brokered out to a third party you never meet.

We accept AI, BMP, EPS, GIF, JPG, JPEG, PDF and TIFF files, and produce runs from a single prototype through long production quantities.

Our commitment to quality

The 3M MCS Warranty

Airmark is certified by 3M to offer the 3M Matched Component System Warranty on finished graphics. The MCS Warranty covers graphics built from products designed and tested together for compatibility and performance, and it has set the industry standard for more than twenty years.

The certification is not required by 3M. We hold it because it gives our customers a comprehensive, preferred warranty on finished graphics rather than a patchwork of component warranties. We can supply a copy of our current certificate on request.

DFCManufacturing Group

Part of the DFC family of manufacturing companies

DFC Manufacturing Group is your one-stop source for tooling and specialty converting — steel rule dies, rotary dies, thermoform trim dies, laser emboss, foil stamping and converting services across the United States.
